Foray Follow Up
The West Virginia Mushroom Club Shelly Conrad 2017 Memorial Foray was a wonderful success with many old and new friends and lots of beautiful fungi! People came from far and wide; most people came from the tri-state area (West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and DC), but we also had people from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, and Wisconsin. The weather cooperated – torrential downpours during our inside workshops and lectures, but a break in the rain for the Saturday morning forays. Lots of mushrooms and other fungi were collected and over 150 different species, including several species new to the foray, were identified. Photos and memories of Shelly Conrad’s tireless organization, boundless enthusiasm, excellent cooking, and beautiful friendships were shared throughout the weekend. We thank everybody who helped and participated, and we hope to see you all again next year!
