About the event
We're back at Blackwater Falls Lodge in Davis, WV for another annual foray of the WV Mushroom Club. This will be a 3-day event filled with speakers, walks, talks, vendors, hands-on workshops, mushroom tastings and A BALL! That's right, Saturday night we will have a costume party and social event. Read ticket options carefully--some workshops require an additional fee or at least a reservation, and they fill up quickly! Also, plan your schedule carefully, and notice workshops that might overlap.
Tickets do not cover lodging. Blackwater Falls State Park has a variety of accommodations including campsites, cabins and rooms in the lodge. Please contact the Blackwater Falls Lodge front desk directly for a discount on rates when booking with the WV Mushroom Club Foray while space lasts (be sure to mention the foray to them) and before July 1st. In exchange for the discounted price, you are required to help out at the foray for a maximum of 4 hours. Join Arleen Bessette in exploring how our personal “realities” affect how we forage for mushrooms, what we find, and how we define what those fungal discoveries are. This is an invitation to walk and talk together, to expand techniques of mushroom identification and knowledge using sense-based exercises and personal sharing. An opportunity to be more present-focused and less separated from the natural world in which we are embedded, to reclaim our sense of adventure and wonder.

Bioluminescent Sunprint/Sporeprint Workshop with Tyler Brunner. This workshop will lead you on an experimental approach to traditional photography using bioluminescent mushrooms. We will be using the natural luciferase reaction in several bioluminescent species to expose a liquid photocatalyst which can be painted on paper or fabric. These prints are similar to cyanotype "Sunprints", but leave an impression of the glowing gills like a permanent sporeprint. Available through July 9.
