2024 Field to Lab Course
3-day intensive course for those interested in honing their skills for fungal diversity documentation.

About the event
Join us for a weekend workshop focused on cultivating our skills in mycology. From ‘field to lab’, we’ll be focusing on in-field documentation and sampling. We will then take our studies to the lab, where we’ll get comfortable using the microscope as a tool and dive into the microscopic side of fungi. Finally, we will venture into molecular studies; how to sample for sequencing, to send off to a lab, and how to make sense of the information gathered. Though we do not expect attendees to ‘know’ much about fungi, we do want to emphasize that this is intended for those who are dedicated to honing their skills in documenting fungal diversity. That being said, we believe that joy and curiosity are at the heart of learning! We will be surrounded by the beautiful Monongahela National Forest and working out of the laboratories at Davis and Elkins College. Our hope…
