About the event
We're back at Blackwater Falls Lodge in Davis, WV for another annual foray of ther WV Mushroom Club. This will be a 3-day event filled with speakers, walks, talks, art, vendors, hands-on workshops, mushroom tastings and more! Read ticket options carefully--some workshops require an additional fee or at least a reservation, and they fill up quickly!

VOLUNTEER Full 3-Day Pass
Three FULL days of walks, talks, workshops, and shopping--full of mushrooms! This is a volunteer pass. In exchange for the discounted price, we ask that you help out at the foray for one shift of up to 4 hours, though most are considerably less. Our volunteer coordinator will be reaching out to you prior to the event to help schedule you so that you don't miss your favorite activities. Please provide good contact information and be ready to help out!

Bolete ID Workshop
Friday, 9:15am. Learn the nuances of bolete identification from the masters Alan & Arleen Bessette in this hands-on workshop. Free, but space is limited. You must also have a 3-Day Pass to attend.

Friday, 4pm. Learn the techniques of mushroom preservation for culinary use: tea, jerky, broth, shrub from Flannel Roots Farm. You must have a 3-Day Pass to purchase this ticket and attend. This workshop will repeat on Sunday morning, so purchase a Sunday ticket if that timing is better for you.

You must purchase a separate ticket for this workshop. Learn to make molds and cast plaster replicas of real mushrooms with artist Karen Milnes and take home your creations. You must also have a 3-Day Pass to attend.

Sunday, 10am. Learn to mix and use chemical reagents to help ID with John Plischke, and take home your own set of basic reagents. You also need a 3-Day Pass to purchase this ticket and attend.

Sunday 10am. Participants will briefly discuss methods for growing mushrooms with a focus on shiitake. They will engage in hands on inoculation of logs, and prepare one to take home. They will leave with the knowledge to care for their log. This workshop will also include time for Q&A with Max Dubansky of Backbone Farm. You must also have a 3-Day Pass to attend.

Sunday 10am. This class will cover the process of cultivating mushrooms indoors using the bag method! It will include everything you need material-wise (mushroom spawn, growing substrate, autoclave bag, educational materials, etc.) as well as step-by-step instruction from Lamastra Farms that covers everything from beginning to harvest! Participants will get to take home their inoculated mushroom blocks. You must also have a 3-Day Pass to attend.
